I also think that if Ashock would have won it would have been better simply because by electing a SUPPOSED TO BE opposition like Pravin in NO8 makes no change… it is jst making the power party stronger and thus no opposition in that consituency when the people will not agree on a government decision.
Both politics and the people. The politics cause they cant come up with new ideas and are out of phase with the people. The people cause they are too tame.
lol, introduce that subject in schools and you ll have a new subject for private tutors to exploit… a lot of stupid followers will start learning notes by heart …
Ohh talking about that additional 30 minutes at school made me remember the crisis on islandcrisis of january lol. You remember yush?
I think the GP syllabus itself must changed a bit to cater for what is really happening in this country too. When I was at school it was a bit too much on the international and general stuffs…
@Bruno .. It is indeed true what you said. Actually Mauritius had more than 80% literacy rate, people are educated but the problem is that people are not interested in politics. This give chance to incompetent people to stand as candidates and win in election. Now who to blame?
Actually one way to overcome this problem is to educate people about how the political and electoral system in Mauritius work. The country has a high literacy level .Why not put political studies in college? Students already have the activity period and this would be a nice time to teach then how the system work . Just like there is mini un and eu organised in international level .. colleges can even organise mini parliament as fun . This would be a good way to make youngsters interested in politics .
Most Gp teachers are still stucked with old topics . In seychelles they teach students on UN , eu at college level . In mauritius you need to go to uni to know how Un function . Most Gp teachers are still with essays on salt ..
But I have a comment
This mean that 24684 that is the majority of the people in NO8 do not like Pravin lol.
Well our electoral system itself is so great. Even if only 5000 people vote I think if one get 3000 votes he win. It’s so if am not wrong na?
Ridiculous then! Then French system pwn our system!

The rather high rate of ‘abstention’ worries me. The politics are not keeping in touch with at least 25% of voters (which is huge).

Yeps you’re right but students are lazy as well … they could have worked out these topics by themselves … Hey could I add you to my blogroll?
They are not forced into behaving that way though.

No need to make it a subject , just put it in activity period . No examination = no life for private tutors.
